Marquetta Thomas

Hello Students and Families,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the start of another school year.  Whether you are a returning family or this is your first time at our school, I would like to welcome you to Fox Ridge Middle School.   Fox Ridge begins its ninth year with a student population of over 1,400 students.  As I enter my nineteenth year in the Cherry Creek School District and my fourth year serving as the Fox Ridge principal, I am eager to meet you and get our journey towards excellence started.

A new school year is exciting, as it presents new opportunities for various beginnings—new classes, new faces, new courses, new expectations, and new teachers.  The three years of middle school are a time of accelerated growth opportunities, challenge and adventure for students.  We are honored to inspire your child(ren) during this special time in their lives.   Middle school is a time of change.  The workload and social adjustments are greater than they were in elementary school.  There are more students, more classes, and more to remember, but even in all of the "more", there are also great opportunities.

As you move through this transition, it is important to remember that our primary goal is to partner with families for the success of every student, academically, emotionally, and socially.  Students develop at different rates and we must honor each of our students and their individuality, while meeting their need to be challenged, motivated and encouraged.  We will facilitate learning, as well as opportunities for independence and interdependence within our school community.  We are here to support our students and families and to ensure that our students reach their full academic potential.  I am confident that as our students encounter rigorous programming that will push them, they will have the capacity and support to meet the demands of their new classes.  Our students are critical thinkers and problem-solvers; they are creative and they are preparing to become productive citizens and future leaders in our society.

I look forward to working with each of you this year, as well as providing a great environment for student success.  Again, Welcome to Fox Ridge Middle School.

Warmest regards,

Marquetta Thomas,

"Excellence is a journey of choice ~ Everyday."
